Top 5 Animated Disney Movies

Growing Up Disney

I have an older sister named Abbey and a twin brother named Sam. Abbey is only two years older than my brother and I, so it wasn’t hard for us all to get along when we were younger. I mean, there was the occasional fight here and there, but for as long as I can remember we have always gotten along (not including the two years my family and I lived in Texas… but that’s another story).

Even now as 20 something year old’s we still enjoy hanging out together as much as possible. Whether it’s playing a boardgame after dinner, going for a hike in the woods, or just simply sitting around and talking with one another, we always have a good time.

One thing we like to do is watch TV together, and ever since we got Disney plus we’ve been into watching old Disney movies.

However, every time we sit down to watch one of these movies, we spend 30-minutes debating on what we’re going to watch.

To help with this issue, I’ve decided to come up with a list of my top 5 favorite Disney animated movies to inspire our next Disney plus-watch-sesh.

5) Brother Bear

Whenever we took family vacations, we’d always drive. My siblings and I didn’t mind this though, because that meant we’d get to sit in the back of the car and watch movies for as long as the drive lasted.

On these trips, one of my go to movies was always Brother Bear. I always thought it would be cool to transform into an animal and see life through their eyes. With this movie, I got to do just that, watching as Kenia and Koda go on a crazy adventure meeting animal friends along the way.

4) Lilo & Stitch

In my opinion, Lilo and Stitch is one of the weirdest Disney movies ever created. Like, who decided aliens and Hawaii went hand in hand?

It’s also a hilarious movie, with tons of weird scenes and characters that create a cinematic masterpiece.

I love this movie so much that my brother and I learned how to do the voice of stitch.

3) Pocahontas

This movie is amazing! Not only is the plot killer, but the soundtrack to the film is unbeatable.

My favorite song of all has to be, hands down, Colors of the Wind. Like, it’s just such a powerful song.

Some people might listen to scream music or heavy metal to get them through their workout, but for me it’s the powerful message and vocals in this song that helps me push myself to the limits.

“Can you paint with all the colors… of… the… wind!!!!…”

2) Mulan

I don’t know a more iconic scene than the hair scene in Mulan. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you obviously aren’t as much of a fan of this movie as you think.

I loved Mulan so much as a kid that as a kindergartener I attempted to recreate this scene myself, cutting a nice big chunk of my own hair out with a pair of scissors… now that’s true commitment.

1) The Little Mermaid

It’s no surprise that this is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I mean, what else would you expect a 20-year-old boy to say?

As kids, my brother and I would watch this movie on repeat, running around the basement and signing along as Ariel sand the iconic song Part of Your World. My parents even have a video of us spinning around in circles, running into the basement walls as we pretend to swim our way to the surface.
